Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Monday
In the wake of a weak occluded front passing through the Cascades this afternoon, a Puget sound convergence zone should form this evening and be directed toward the central Cascades including Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes. This convergence band should shift to the south Thursday night toward Paradise/Crystal area before tapering off Friday morning. Besides the central and south Washington Cascades, light to moderate post-frontal showers will continue in earnest for the Mt. Hood area tonight.
Upper level ridging will build overhead on Friday, trapping leftover low clouds and moisture from about Snoqualmie Pass and south to Mt. Hood on the west side of the Cascades. Partial clearing for the north Cascades, Olympics and east slopes of the Cascades should allow cumulus clouds to bubble up but then flatten out in the afternoon creating mostly cloudy skies.
Dry conditions are likely Friday night ahead of the next Pacific frontal system which should arrive at daybreak on Saturday. Snow levels will drop with the onset of precipitation as the system works inland during the day with windy conditions developing as well.
