Trailhead Outreach

The primary goal of this program is to reach winter backcountry recreationists at local trailheads and inform them of the forecasting services and education opportunities the center provides to their community. NWAC’s Trailhead Outreach Project’s success is driven by its simplicity – volunteers connect with recreationists at popular trailheads with easy access to avalanche terrain. We train a legion of volunteers to set-up tents and tables with outreach information, collect surveys with user information, and to engage with the public.

This program wouldn’t be possible without the support of volunteers, so please consider joining NWAC at a Trailhead Outreach event this season!

Application deadline: Priority to applications received on or before 10/18/2022, position will be open until filled

This program has historically been volunteer run, and while we will still have volunteers attending each event, we are looking to bring on paid staff to ensure things run smoothly, help promote the user survey, and debrief with the Outreach Coordinator to make this program stronger. Professional backcountry experience is not required for this role; however, you must have experience with backcountry travel and familiarity using avalanche forecasting products.
