Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Friday
A strong frontal system blew through last night, slightly raising snow levels for the Washington Cascades but training the bulk of the moisture and warmth into the Mt. Hood area. We are in post-frontal SW flow this morning with the heavier showers for the Mt. Hood, Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes, and Mt. Baker areas respectively. Easterly flow in the Passes has abated, and snow levels may briefly jump to 4000-4500 ft this morning before joining the overall cooling trend seen elsewhere along the west slopes of the Cascades. Shower activity will wane last in the north Cascades this afternoon, and should end for all areas overnight. Gusty post-frontal winds should also ease during the day.
A weak low pressure system developing along the old frontal boundary over California, will lift north Sunday morning spreading light rain and snow into Mt. Hood and perhaps the south Washington Cascades. Clouds and light precipitation should decrease quickly near and north of Stevens Pass.
