Weather Synopsis for Wednesday & Thursday
A upper level low hanging around offshore continues to rotate upper level shortwaves through the area in southerly flow aloft. A band of light rain and snow over the Olympics and Vancouver Island should rotate north later this morning, with another band down along the central Oregon coast.
A partial clearing trend should take place this afternoon as most of the area will be between shortwaves, with the clearing most pronounced west of the Cascade crest. Low level easterly flow should maintain cloud cover over the east slopes along with some light rain or snow. There should be a gradual warming trend this afternoon.
The upper level low will slowly dig SE overnight and the PNW will be left in no-man's land regarding upper level flow and forcing as the jet stream is well south and directed into the Baja Peninsula. A few mountain showers could pop up in the afternoon with a weakly unstable air mass overhead.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Thursday
Friday should be a drier and mostly clear day. Colder air from the interior of Canada and interior West should slowly work it's way eastward as offshore pressure gradients increase. A weak weather system approaching from the west will begin to split and slide south toward the Oregon/California border late Friday night.
Currently, the GFS model has light rain and snow spreading over the Mt. Hood area Saturday. Models disagree how far north this light precipitation may reach into the Washington Cascades Saturday and Saturday night. On Sunday, light NW flow aloft will keep mostly cloudy skies and the chance of showers in the forecast.
