Weather Synopsis for Monday & Monday

High amplitude ridging positioned offshore and extending into SE Alaska will keep the Pacific Northwest high and dry through the short term. Strong surface high pressure in southern British Columbia along with relatively cold air along the east slopes will funnel through the Cascade passes with offshore (easterly) gradients. Warm temperatures will continue in the alpine, while cool temperature inversions for the east slopes of the Cascades, near the Cascades Passes and affected areas of Mt. Hood area will continue through Tuesday morning. Easterly flow should weaken later Tuesday and freezing levels and lower mountain temperatures in the aforementioned areas should "pop" tomorrow afternoon.  A weak frontal system will approach from the west Tuesday night.
