Weather Synopsis
Stormy weather reaches all across our region this afternoon as a cold front passes overhead. Most locations are seeing moderate to strong S-SW winds, mild temperatures, and periods of heavier precipitation. This evening winds turn more westerly and decrease. As they do so, showers will start to taper and snow levels drop. We should see a bit of a break between storm systems overnight and into Monday morning. This will allow for at least partial clearing in most areas.
You could see a bit of sunshine to start Monday. However, the large upper trough responsible for the weekend's active weather will send, yet another short-wave disturbance our way. A surface low will approach the coast and turn north. Clouds should start to increase and thicken mid-day with showers generally arriving late in the afternoon. Southerly flow out ahead of a weak front will increase wind speeds for many of the usual locations: Mt Baker, Crystal Mt, Mission Ridge, and Mt Hood.
Initially, this pattern will primarily favor the volcanoes Monday evening. As the front passes overnight, winds will once again turn more westerly and decrease. This should help post-frontal showers spread deeper into the mountains. Look for periods of moderate snow at the Passes, with showers even making it to locations east of the crest.
On Tuesday, a secondary feature seems to arrive and reinvigorate precipitation in the afternoon. At the very least, it should add to the instability in the atmosphere and help produce a few more convective showers. The big question at this point is how much moisture will this weakening storm add to the equation. So, while we aren't sure about the exact snowfall amounts, it appears like our weather remains wet and active.

Extended Weather Synopsis
The trough situated in the northeastern starts to close Tuesday night into Wednesday. While this could limit its ability to send additional storms our way, it does focus the jet stream into Oregon. This will keep our atmosphere cold, moist, and unstable. Additional weak disturbances may set off rounds of more condensed snow showers. Right now these features seem to arrive Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, but the details feel a bit hazy. In general, expect a pattern of modest showers interspersed with periods of slightly drier weather and moments of sunshine. Even if the calendar wants us to think it's spring, the weather this week will probably feel a bit more winter-like.
