Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Sunday
Another dry and sunny day is in store for the mountains today. Saturday morning temperatures are a few degrees cooler than yesterday but freezing levels should once again rise to 6500-7000' across the region as the day progresses. A few afternoon cumulus clouds may bubble up this afternoon but skies should remain mostly sunny.
Northerly flow will become northwesterly overnight as a weather system upstream in the Gulf of Alaska begins to approach the region. The main impact for Saturday night will be elevated freezing levels. Temperature inversions will form will lower temperatures along lower slopes and deep valleys but expect free-air freezing levels to remain elevated.
High clouds will begin to stream over the Olympics and north Cascades in the morning, eventually becoming a high overcast by later in the day. Areas further south should see mostly sunny skies become broken with some periods of filtered sunshine in the afternoon. We'll squeeze out one more mild day but most areas will see an uptick in winds during the afternoon hours.
