Weather Synopsis for Friday & Sunday
No major changes to the forecast as the dry and mostly clear stretch of weather continues over our region. The flow aloft will turn more northerly over the next two days but we will have to wait until Sunday night for a weather system to reach our area.
Westerly winds will tick up a notch this afternoon with slightly stronger onshore flow, potentially reaching the moderate range in the afternoon particularly for the central Cascades. There should be less afternoon cumulus buildup relative to yesterday except for the far south Washington Cascades and Mt. Hood area. Mt. Hood is closer to the upper level low complex positioned well to our south and as a result, daytime heating may kickoff an isolated shower this afternoon.
Over the next two days, freezing levels will hover in the 5000-7000' range, peaking in the afternoon and dipping slightly overnight. Temperature inversions will continue to develop each night with cooler or even sub-freezing temperatures along the lower slopes and deep valley and milder air above. Temperature inversions will not be as deep or pronounced as earlier in the week, expect them to mix out quickly by mid to late morning both Friday and Saturday morning.
