Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Monday

A low pressure spinning off the coast of northern California continues to spin very small amounts of moisture into the southern parts of the forecast region (from around I-90 southward). We're expecting up to an inch of snow accumulation with these bands of very light showers. The clockwise (cyclonic) circulation around the low combined with a difference in temperature across the Cascades continues to drive moderate to strong E flow at Cascade Crest level in the southern Cascades. Regions north of I-90 should see slightly below average temperatures for mid-March, but mostly sunny skies. Fraser outflow winds continue to spill cold air into the lowlands, but should gradually decrease Sunday through Monday.

Sunday night, temperatures should be cool with the easterly winds gradually waning. A ridge of high pressure dries out the region with only a few clouds lingering near Mt. Hood.

Monday, the temperatures moderate significantly with sunny skies and temperatures rebounding by late morning to typical temperatures for mid-March. Winds should be generally light.
