Weather Synopsis for Friday & Tuesday
Even though the approaching storm system is a bit behind schedule this morning, you should still see snow move into the mountains throughout the day. Precipitation will spread north to south, reaching the Mt Hood area in the afternoon. The current path of the low-pressure takes it further west than originally thought. This will likely result in less snow for most of our area. As the storm drifts south along the coast, the bulk of the precipitation focusses on locations in the southern half of the forecast region Friday afternoon and evening. Moisture should swing around the rotating storm and approach the Cascades from the southeast producing decent snowfall for the Wenatchee Mountains, higher terrain near Yakima, Mt Adams, and Mt Hood areas. Cold air spills into the region from Canada Friday evening dropping snowlevels close to zero for most locations. As a result, you could see modest water amounts produce several inches of light fluffy snow.
The storm bumps around on the Oregon coast overnight continuing to spin moisture into the southern and eastern portions of the region. Eventually, it gets moving again in the wee hours of Saturday morning leaving a few lingering showers and very cold air in its place. As it exits, areas further north begin to dry and clear, while isolated showers continue to add another inch or two of snow to locations like Mission Ridge, White Pass, and Mt Hood.
