Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Wednesday

Shower activity that locally dropped up to 7-10" of snow at Crystal and Mt. Baker yesterday afternoon and evening and an inch or two elsewhere has mainly petered out this morning except from the Mountain Loop Hwy to the Canadian border where scattered light snow showers remain.

The upper low that was brought us convective showers yesterday has shifted inland. We still have cool upper level troughing over the area, which will keep the possibility of an afternoon mountain shower as instability increases in the afternoon especially over the north Cascades. The air mass is unseasonably cold, so expect chilly temperatures as you climb in elevation today. The final piece for today's weather is a mid and high level deck of moisture that will spread inland later this morning, creating mostly cloudy conditions for the south Washington Cascades and overcast skies down at Mt. Hood.

Skies will clear out and any lingering showers should quickly end this evening. Expect another cold night Sunday night with mountain temperatures locally in the teens to even single digits. Monday should become a notch warmer than Sunday and definitely sunnier as weak upper level troughing remains over the area. Winds are not a factor over the short term.
