Weather Synopsis for Monday night through Sunday
We'll see a change in the weather pattern over the short-term forecast. The high-pressure ridge, which kept us dry Sunday and Monday, will weaken and shift East Monday night. This will allow for rain/snow showers and cooler air to enter the area Tuesday. This doesn't appear to be a particularly wet system and any snow accumulations ought to be modest at best.
Look for showers to begin in the Olympics mid-morning Tuesday before spreading into the Cascades later in the day. The onset of precipitation should usher in cooler air and increasing winds. While temperatures are expected to cool throughout the near term, this is not a cold storm. Expect snow-levels to bottom out in the 3500-4000 foot range. Wednesday appears mostly dry before our next chance of precipitation arrives late in the afternoon.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Sunday
A stronger more developed storm system should begin to impact the region Wednesday night. Right now the weather models seem to agree that this system will bring significant rain and snow to the mountains with snow-levels lowering throughout the forecast period. It looks like we'll find snow at many mountain trailhead locations before the precipitation ends Friday night. Keep your eye on this storm. It has the potential to significantly impact the mountains and potential avalanche hazard.
