Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Tuesday
A strong winter-like jet stream will lift north into Washington State today keeping the mild moisture axis trained over Oregon where about 2 inches of water has fallen over the last 24 hours. Lighter but widespread precipitation amounts of 0.25-0.50" were seen further north overnight. The central and north Washington Cascades stayed cool overnight with snow down to 3000'. Even these areas will see rising snow levels as the showers taper down this afternoon.
The next wave along the quasi-stationary frontal boundary that has been delivering all of this moisture will affect Mt. Hood late this afternoon through Sunday night with another round of wind, mild freezing levels and moderate to heavy precipitation. Moderate precipitation may again reach the far south Washington Cascades in this pattern. The next low pressure system should weaken as it curls north along the central Washington coast on Monday, spreading light showers to inland.
