Avalanche danger is represented across mountain terrain using forecast zones. Every NWAC zone is also separated into three elevation bands: Lower, Middle and Upper. Each band is assigned its own avalanche danger rating. Some days, the danger rating for all three elevation bands is the same, while on other days, each elevation can have a different rating.
