Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Friday
A closed upper level low will continue to drop south along the California coast tonight as a longwave trough remains over our region. Cool temperatures, mostly cloudy skies and isolated mountain showers will continue through the evening.
The main instability associated with the upper level trough will shift east to the Inland NW on Monday while onshore westerly flow increases during the day. There should be abundant low-level clouds along the west slopes of the Cascades, Olympics, and Mt. Hood Monday morning. All areas should see mostly sunny but still seasonally cool temperatures in the afternoon. Look for westerly winds to become moderate near the Passes and along the east slopes of the Cascades in the afternoon and evening hours. The best chance for an afternoon shower will be across the northern Cascades closer to higher terrain in the Pasatyen Wilderness. Tuesday looks like a near repeat of Monday. The Mt. Hood area will see somewhat higher freezing levels than areas further north over the short term.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday
Flat upper level ridging will shift closer to the coast during the week, keeping the storm track at bay and well to our north. This will allow dry weather to continue with increasingly warmer temperatures day over day as the flow aloft stays out of the NW. Forecast models disagree just how much high cloud cover will waft over the northern half of Washington State during this time period. Look for warmer and sunnier conditions further south; freezing levels in the Mt. Hood area should top out above 10,000' by Thursday.
