Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Sunday
A diffuse trough lingers over the Pacific Northwest with weak disturbances moving across the region on NW flow. Each disturbance spawns or maintains scattered to isolated snow shower activity or weak convergence zones as they pass, taking advantage of the moisture in place at low levels of the atmosphere. The first such feature stays offshore, tracking into southern Oregon today. A weaker feature crosses our mountains tonight. We're keeping a chance of precipitation in the forecast throughout the short-term forecast, but any snow accumulation should be very light.
Temperatures have cooled throughout the region with snow levels well-remaining below the passes and dropping further on Sunday evening.
Northwest flow increases aloft on Sunday evening as a dirty ridge (with precipitation spilling over the top) moves into the nearshore waters. As the low-level moisture becomes increasingly shallow, it is possible that the region will dry out completely by Sunday night.
