Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Tuesday

10 AM update for Mt. Baker today.

A broad upper level low in the NE Pacific will direct a winter-like strength jet stream into Oregon the next few days. Along the westerly jet, the next frontal system in a series of three waves will lift northeast across the area today, with a decent frontal passage expected late morning/mid-day for the Cascades. Snow levels will be seasonally cool with accumulating snow expected above 3500-4000 ft for all areas today. If you aren't seeing strong winds yet, you will after the frontal passage with a burst of S-SW winds expected for most areas.

The next developing low pressure system will follow quickly on the first system's heels, passing through Oregon early Sunday morning. An identical system track looks likely for Sunday afternoon and night for the third in the series. With these latter systems, it looks likely that Mt. Hood will get pounded by moisture, wind and a significant warming trend. Some of this weather will extend into the south Washington Cascades. Poor forecast model agreement remains to how far north significant moisture, winds and warming will spread on Sunday...stay tuned for an interesting weekend of weather.
