Weather Synopsis for Thursday & Wednesday

The Pacific Northwest will see a mostly dry and mild day with some light rain and snow moving into northern Oregon on southerly flow from late morning onward ahead of a weakening shortwave upper trough. The upper trough will spread increasing generally light rain and snow throughout the region during the evening and overnight hours with winds increasing into the light to moderate range. Mt. Hood is expected to receive the most precipitation through Thursday night with around 0.5" of snow water equivalent expected. Snow levels will drop very slightly Monday morning but it will remain mild. SSW flow behind the trough will continue shower activity Friday morning.

A second, stronger shortwave upper trough on the heels of the first will increase rain and snow late in the day on Friday with generally S winds steadily increasing throughout the region from late Thursday night through Friday afternoon. Mt. Baker followed by Mt. Hood look to pick up the most precipitation out of this system. Snow levels should hover around 5000 ft on Friday.
