Weather Synopsis for Wednesday & Wednesday

A frontal system will push through the Pacific Northwest today. The cold front is currently along the coast this morning and should pass through the Cascades close to mid-day. Precipitation intensity should be highest near the frontal passage with showers becoming more scattered in the afternoon with a few sun breaks possible for the south Washington Cascades, Olympics and Mt. Hood. The exception will be the Mt. Baker area which should benefit from a post-frontal SW onshore push to keep more moderate showers going in their area. Snow levels have dropped to around 5500' this morning and should lower to 4500-5000' by late this afternoon and early evening. W-SW Winds will become moderate prior to and behind the front.

Showers should diminish quickly overnight with dry conditions expected after midnight through the first half of Thursday. A weak shortwave off the Oregon/California coast will rotate up a few bands of light precipitation for the Mt. Hood area and the south Washington Cascades Thursday afternoon.  Some filtered sunshine through high clouds is expected further north with sunnier conditions expected for the north Cascades.
