Avalanche Occurrence

Several large crowns were visible on mainly D2-D3 (large and very large) avalanches which probably occurred during the avalanche warning on 2/28 at the start of the rain on snow event. Many old D1-D2 (small-large) wet loose avalanches were visible as well.

Comments:

Multiple large to very large avalanches from natural avalanche cycle Feb 2 - March 2. Early stage slab avalanches looked to have failed at a variety of interfaces from within new snow, to old/new interface to deeper crust-facet layers. Later loose wet to D2.5 followed with debris overrunning larger, partially buried debris from earlier in the cycle. Some crowns propagate horizontally 400-600' wide, others connected dissimilar terrain features. Debris below Hollenbecks(?) looks to have cornice chunks.

- Little/Mini AK
- 2x in Corner Pocket area
- Diamond
- SE of Herman Saddle
