Observations

Level 1 class out in Skyline Lake zone. Scattered clouds most of the day with some sun breaks. The small amount of snow from last night produced some very small D1 loose dry avalanches. We dug pits at 5100' at a variety of aspects. We had sudden planar and resistant planar compression test results both at 38cm and 60cm down. These are the 1/2 and 12/29 interfaces. Our one extended column test produced a small fracture at 38cm, but did not cross the column. The solstice crust seems well bonded above and below. Attached image of 12/29 interface crystals is on a 1mm grid. Height of snow was 290cm. Air temp 22. Snow fall picked up after 3.
