Observations

Toured Hyak at dawn this morning. Snowing very hard until around 8:30am, 2+ inches built up on the bill of my cap on the way up. Knee to thigh deep new snow since Sunday, very light and unconsolidated - lower angle slopes were arduous travel even downhill. Steep rollovers sluffed easily, with top 3-4” in particular moving quickly and easily. Fine in low consequence terrain, but will likely be challenging in sustained steeps or with more terrain hazards. Unexpected falls today definitely had snow immersion danger, keep your partners close!

Media

Sluff and preexisting loose/dry on the steepest slopes.
