Small (4 - 6 feet wide) day-old slab avalanches were evident in the meadow slope immediately north of the waterfall at the headwall below Source Lake. Release points were the exposed southeast facing rocks near the top of the headwall. I tried breaking trail to the waterfall viewpoint, but the route I'm familiar with is at the base of this slope, it was mid-day and the sun was shining on the rocks were the small slabs had released, the powder was 3 to 4 feet deep in places, and I was alone, so I made that my turnaround point. Ski tracks continued up the recommended backcountry route towards the north side of Source Lake and the Snow Lake winter route.
