Observations

Today we observed surface hoar on sheltered and shaded aspects and near surface facets/radiation recrystallization on all solar aspects on open slopes. This pattern was consistent from 3500' to 5600'. The sun crust associated with the RR facets is most prominent on SW and W while S and SE may have dodged enough early AM sun, resulting in less developed faceted grains. Surface hoar was 1-2cm.

The getting has been good with excellent stability and weather, but upcoming storms will bring a cornucopia of potentially problematic grains across the compass rose and at all elevation bands.
