Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Toured from Narada Falls to just below Castle summit in the Tatoosh. Below treeline the recent storm snow seemed to be setting up well, though still deep, ski pen ~30-45cm while skinning, boot pen ~1m down onto a firm base. No cracking or whoomphing noted, thoughsome small, natural loose slides were seen off steep cliffs near inspiration point.
Up near treeline the wind effect was obvious, big pillows and drift lines, scoured areas, and the beginnings of a cornice off the north side (south winds) of the castle saddle. No cracking in the wind snow despite several test-slope cuts, just breaking at feet, but still the problem I wanted to give the most caution. Visibility was terrible above treeline.

Media

Small dry loose and shallow storm slabs near Inspiration Point.
Poor visibility and the faint edge of a small cornice to the right.
