Observations

Nighttour at Alpental; Winds picked up and temperatures dropped significantly around 6pm. There was a significant amount of wind transport, slabs, drifts and textured snow well below ridgeline. Some small cracking on the way up, but never got into steep enough terrain for anything to move. New snow and wind covered on skin track on lap two. Snowpack was very inconsistent, going from unconsolidated with pole punching all the way through to 10cm of hard pack; wind seeming to have the most effect. Creek hazards still exist, otherwise good coverage, and ski'd beautifully on the way down.
