This skier triggered avalanche was located near the Aquarius face on the backside of the ski area in some steep terrain @ 5400 ft on a SE aspect. Appeared to fail within the new snow, crown depths were fairly shallow.
None reported
Moderate East winds were notable at Pass level. We toured around the backside of the ski area and found a HS ranging from 120-140 cm deep above 5000 ft. The upper 20 cm of new storm snow still did appear as reactive.
In quick test pits, I targeted the Dec 8th interface to see how the new load was bonding to this crust. I did get CT12, RP on the Dec 8th crust, which was 120 cm down in this location. On the Dec 8th crust, I did locate some rounding facets on top of the crust.
I also got a CT10 , 15 cm down within the new snow.
