Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Considerable melting over the last week has left just shallow patchy snow below 5600'. From 5,600 to 8,250, ridges are largely melted out. Valleys and lee slopes have several feet of snow. Last week's 2-3' thick ice crust now lies beneath 1-2" of icy snow strongly adherent to the ice layer. There is no sign of any avalanches occurring in recent storms. Sunday 11/21 weather was sunny with light winds. Temps were above freezing below 7,500' but ice and snow above that altitude stayed dry and frozen all day.

Media

Down the climbing route from 5600'. Little snow remains.
Up the climbing route from 5600' to 7600'. Exposed ridges and snow.
From 7,000 to 7600. Climber crampons leaving only shallow impressions despite the warm afternoon sun.
