Comments:
I triggered two avalanches today. One while descending from Ptarmigan pass (west of table Mountain) after doing one run towards Ptarmigan ridge. This first avalanche was maybe D1.5. It had a crown about 6in deep and propagated laterally into steep terrain. I was not caught. It released at my skis.
The second avalanche occurred while descending from Herman saddle. This was D.5 but I was plenty spooked by the earlier one (traveling solo) and was trying to avoid steeper terrain and the terrain trap coming down from Hermann saddle (which was full of wet loose debris).
Did you observe any avalanches?
Yes
Avalanche Type:
Wet Loose
Size:
Size 3: Could bury and destroy a car, damage a truck, destroy a wood frame house, or break a few trees
Elevation:
Aspect:

Comments:
Saw evidence of wet loose avalanches on all aspects. From small to huge. These all appeared to run yesterday or during the more recent storm system. I did not obverse wet loose avalanches that released today. The large one was on the north side of Table, above iceberg lake near the ice climb “death picnic” (which still looks like it’s in)
Did you see shooting cracks?
Yes, Isolated
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
No
Snow quality was good in the AM and deteriorated as I went clockwise around table Mountain.
