Comments:
Around 4 inches of very soft snow on top of a very hard icy layer. Soft layer was sliding during skin up, and large releases occured when skiing a steeper East exposed face. Release was wide but not deep enough to be dangerous (only the top 4 inches). The rest of the downhill skiing did not create any comparable releases.
None reported
Traveled from Lanham Creek valley, up steep forested West facing slope to Jim Hill Mountain ridge, and then down East facing ridge and down Henry Creek valley. Fresh snow layer is not sticking at all on previous icy layer. Snow remained stable most of our tour except for the one observation cited above.
