Triggered Avalanches

Did you trigger any avalanches?
Yes
Was it intentional?
No
Avalanche Type:
Hard Slab
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
5000’
Aspect:
S
Comments:
Triggered a stiff wind slab that varied in depth from 6” - 18” and propagated 15 - 20 ft. The avalanche occurred in small, isolated terrain not connected to larger slopes or terrain features. It had little energy and traveled just to the bottom of the slope (10ft) before stopping.

Yes
Avalanche Type:
Dry Loose (Sluff)
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
5000 ft
Aspect:

Comments:
Saw two dry loose avalanches that appeared to run in the new snow interface (4 - 6 inches) one on a NE facing aspect and the other on a SE aspect. The NE aspect appeared to be a natural release while the SE slide was skiier triggered

Observations

Experienced obvious wind effected snow at and above tree line. Signs of this included scoured surfaces, deep wind drifted pockets, textured snow, and stiff ‘hollow’ feeling snow.
