Observed Avalanches

Did you observe any avalanches?
Yes
Avalanche Type:
Soft Slab
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
~5500’
Aspect:
NE
Comments:
Several small to large wind slabs observed early Monday morning on N/NE aspects. It was the only location we observed any wind slabs. Speculating that surface hoar formed overnight then southerly winds picked up early in the morning with the south facing snow still cold and dry at that elevation and easily transported. Slabs looked shallow. In the photo you can see a crown line all along the ridge trending down and left.
