Observations

Traveled up east peak and into the basin lake area. We skied a few north faces above basin lake and observed very isolated wind slabs on the western side of small features. These pockets were never more than 3-4 inches deep. The skiing quality was still very good on northern aspects with cold, dry snow. On south aspects we observed a very stout crust that didn’t soften as much as we expected it to by the time we left around 2 pm. All other aspects ranged from wind board, sun crust, and old wet debris. Although there were some rollerballs in the afternoon, the clouds were already starting to roll in and little loose wet hazard was observed except for on the steepest and rockiest SE slopes.
