Old wet loose observed on west aspect. Ran at least 200 feet, could not see entire path.

Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

We travelled on primarily. North aspects from 2100-4900'. Lower in forest had not refrozen, snow was soft but fairly supportable. Above 2500' we began finding relatively dry consolidated snow in open areas. Snow in trees remained wet and had not refroze. At approx 4k and above, snow was drier, but slight tilts in the compass yielded sun-affected snow.

The few times we turned onto west aspects, they were firm but had begun to soften by 1pm. True north aspects skied fairly well down to 2800, where warm temps were taking their toll. We experienced several rounds of tree bombs as sun hit trees.

Of note was a glide crack on a high west aspect, above the wet loose we observed. See photo
