Observations

Nice tour day up in the Chiwaukum high country - ~12 inches of fresh light powder on northerly aspects. Dug a pit down to 115cm located near the Swath on a N aspect at 5800 feet in search of the Valentine crust. We performed two CTs, both CTM @ 30cm with a broken non-planar fracture character (likely breaking in recent storm snow). We found a crust layer @80cm deep which we suspected was the Valentine crust - this layer produced no results from either CT. Snow was nicely skiable down to approximately 3700 - below that the snow is quite heavy and cohesive.
