Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Unusually well preserved, cold snow on all aspects. Dry, loose slides were common on steep, 40 degree slopes. Old, cold snow was not well bonded to harder crust 5-6 inches underneath. Below tree line the surface was not wind effected or cohesive. Later in the day, after 2pm, we saw a great deal of wind transport on ridge lines such as Ptarmigan Ridge, Mazama Dome and Mt. Herman.
