Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Observed multiple snow types throughout the day, starting around 4.4k’.
Lower elevation snowpack under tree rain shadows went from consolidated snowpack to more brittle crystalline forms up higher (not quite faceting) midday. As the sun set, the snowpack hardened.
A lot of snow out in open areas was a mix of dry powder and wind fetch. The fetch seemed to have blown from west to east and deposited on eastern leeward areas, based on the direction of the satsurugi.
Snowpack was right side up, with exception to refreeze crust, but also exhibited wet loose conditions throughout the day on sun exposed slopes.
Snow coverage was minimal near the base of the ridge spine on south facing aspects. A lot of vegetation was visible.

Media
