Observations

Traveled through west, north and east-facing terrain near treeline. Conditions were varied. About 6” of lovely cold snow in the shade and a mix of light to moderately sticky snow in areas that had been or were sun-exposed. We observed minimal surface hoar in areas that had received no sun (there was also grapple mixed in with the top layer of snow).
Although it was off and on very sunny, a light wind kept things cool. There was not a lot of shedding or melting of snow off the trees.
We observed a number of D1 wet loose slides in steep, rocky terrain.
We also observed an old crown from a D2 hard slab north-facing ATL that likely released during the last storm cycle.
A great spring day in the mountains!
