Observed Avalanches

Did you observe any avalanches?
Yes
Avalanche Type:
Wet Loose
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
Lower2650’
Aspect:
NW
Comments:
I happens to be at Lake Serene this morning on the bridge at the lake. Heard one avalanche to my right followed by a second.

In the Photo, x3 zoom from the bridge, you can see the two avalanches to either side of the rock face.

Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

The terrain I saw the avalanche was not currently accessible by foot around the lake to the west side. I would be equally concerned in the snowfields leading to the lake. The last .5 miles you cross 2 avalanche potential fields. Even with microspikes and poles people were falling, post holing, finding tree wells, and sliding down the snow face.

Media

This is a double avalanche. The left one started first and the one to the right of the rock face started second.
The terrain leading to and from Lake Serene. If an avalanche happened here, it would likely be caused from the Trail itself and human factors.
