Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

While on a tour traveling above Mississippi head we saw what appears to be a crown on the east facing aspect of Zig Zag Canyon (photos attached).
We toured from Timberline Lodge up to above Mississippi Head. Even with the warm overnight temps the snow was still icy and firm. We started our ski descent around 11:15am as the snow had softened up enough.
