Avalanche Type:
Wet Loose
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
Near treeline
Aspect:
S
Comments:
We were finishing our tour and descending back to Source Lake. On the fan we observed a wet loose avalanche that occurred some time between our ascent of the same aspect.

As I was skiing down another avalanche occurred from above, likely triggered by a cornice or ice fall from higher above. I ski’d out of the path in time. There was a party of 3 above that scanned the avalanche with beacons (which was the right thing to do) before confirming with us at the bottom that there were no other skiers descending it. We heard other slides occurring from higher elevations as temperature increased.

Urge caution from people in afternoon temperatures even on low risk rating days. Occurred between 3:15-4pm

Observations

See above. Avoided wet loose terrain on other descents. Sought out shaded areas vs sun exposed
