Observed Avalanches

Did you observe any avalanches?
Yes
Avalanche Type:
Wet Loose
Size:
Size 2: Could bury, injure, or kill a person
Elevation:
4000'
Aspect:
SE
Comments:
Lee slopes have 8-20' inches of new snow. At altitudes below 5,000' sunshine and warm temps triggered a lot of roller balls and this large skier-triggered loose wet avalanche. It did not propagate to deeper layers, but the toe was 5' deep on the narrow valley below the slope. There was no avi activity above 5,000' today.

Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

Intermittent cloud cover and cooler temps above 5,000' were not conducive to loose wet avalanches today

Media
