Comments:
Didn't actually see it slide, but I spotted the crown from a ridge across the valley, likely just moments after it slid. The crown was probably 300-400 ft wide, guessing at least a foot deep, if not 2. Couldn't have ran more than 100 ft as it benched out before the tree lined cliff band. Noticed someone descending the debris field and had a bad feeling they were looking for their partner, but they quickly disappeared out of sight. Wondered if there was anything we could do, but we were over an hour away and getting to them would put us under hang fire. We ran into the group later and were told one of them was partially buried but able to breathe and uninjured. The person who took the ride said it propagated behind and around him as he lost control, but was able to pull his airbag.
Did you see shooting cracks?
No
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
Yes
Snow was wind firm everywhere with pockets of soft snow. We experienced collapsing while skinning - lots of hollow snow.
