Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

We travelled from Heather Meadows up the south side of Herman (Sun Bowl). There we noticed a breakable crust forming. Precipitation was S-1 with winds out of the south around 10 mph. Just below the skier's false summit, north side (5700') we performed roped cornice and ski cuts. We where unable to get a large cornice to fall but there are several man eaters waiting for a warm up. We skied good snow down the Northside to Bagley creek below the Mountaineers lodge. Stability was very good throughout the tour. Snow turned to rain around 3 pm at 4200'.
