Triggered Avalanches

Did you trigger any avalanches?
Yes
Was it intentional?
No
Avalanche Type:
Soft Slab
Size:
Size 1: Relatively harmless to people
Elevation:
near treeline
Aspect:
NE
Comments:
what was cold smoke @0900 became heavier, wetter, more reactive as day warmed. As snow "set up" we triggered numerous "micro-slabs" that might have been more serious had the overall snowpack been deeper. skabs were crowning about 10cm.

Signs of Unstable Snow

None reported

Observations

a dozen skiers, snowboarders & snowshoers hiking/riding on NE aspect of Mt Cashmere between Eightmile road and the Funnel. Although surface snow proved reactive, total snowpack is insufficient to cover excellent anchorage of small trees, bushes, and rocks, hence the "micro" slabs.
