We choose to avoid any steep, open slopes and stuck to low angle terrain.
Advanced Observations
Observed Avalanche Problem #1:
Deep Persistent Slab
Comments:
Dug a pit at 5000' on a SE facing 28ยบ slope to look at the January crust. The total snow height observed was 425cm and the crust was sitting at 175 cm below the surface. We preformed a DTT which failed at 24 and a PST which failed at 37/100. We realized that we had forgotten to isolate the slab the length of the depth it is buried underneath and would have to go back to check our results.
