Triggered ~ 1’ variable depth x 200’ wide slab on ~40 degree slope while traversing. Broke above us and carried us down ~50’ to flatter area above gully

We were attempting to avoid the risk of staying down in the gully while descending and approach to a high ridge line to try to get to the next drainage over. Noted some cracks forming, then minimal movement of the two of us spaced about 15 feet apart triggered the avalanche. Not deep enough to bury either of us but we went for quite a ride.
