Observations

Skied around the crystal backcountry for the last 4 days. Observed several old avalanches, most likely from Saturday and Sunday, but some big ones on solar slopes.

Today was moderate ESE winds (brrrr) and strong on the ridges, which moderate to strong blowing snow. Wind slabs were starting to get reactive by afternoon. South slopes were scoured to sun crust along ridge lines and open slopes of all aspects were getting wind textured.

Prior to this storm, new 4-8” low density snow was portly bonded to a variety of surfaces (old wind slab, rime crust, sun crust, etc.)
