Observations

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of yesterday's accident victim.

Given the snowpack, another day of look-but-don't-touch. Alpental's control work was obscured from below today, but was extensive-enough to require a delayed opening.

Calm winds and cold light precipitation (stellars and graupel) at dawn gave way to sunbreaks by noon.

Start-zones, too, were largely obscured during my time at the Pass. Looking through photos, I haven't yet found any fresh crowns of natural slab avalanches. Plenty of evidence of natural loose-dry on steep slopes. I suspect that inbounds skiing was excellent. We live in an exceptionally-pretty place.
