Comments:
Came across a D2 natural avalanche on a N aspect that likely ran from upper elevation steep, rocky terrain sometime this morning. The start zone was obscured so we could not determine how deep the avalanche broke.
None reported
Observed 2mm surface hoar 15cm down at the old/new snow interface on a N aspect at 4200 ft. In our travels on SW-N-E aspects up to 5000ft, we were not able to visually verify this BSH layer anywhere else, though we did get consistent Resistant Planar and a few Sudden Planar CT results at this interface throughout the terrain. Most notable was an ECTP4 down 30 cm, which we believe to be the same interface (there was some wind loading in this location).
